General

Rane is commonly known as a renowned manufacturer of high-grade DJ mixers. With the Sixty Four, however, they have taken things to the next level. The mixer combines the solidity and superior sound of analogue technology with the flexibility and mobility of software. It provides you with a 4-channel analogue mixer with matching EQ and low and high-cut filters. The channels can be combined with a software insert that is controllable via the mixer. Thanks to analogue summing - usually found in top-grade studios - and high-grade ADA conversion, the quality of your signal remains intact. In short, the Rane Sixty Four offers you plenty of options to deliver a fantastic performance.

Rane Sixty-Four: integrated 22-channel sound card

Why would you possibly need so many channels? The Sixty-Four is capable of simultaneously supporting 4 stereo input signals and 4 stereo DVS decks from your Serato DJ software. At the same time, you can also use a software send and return for your Serato DJ iZotope effect software. The final 2 channels are available for recording your main output. If you're not using the DVS decks, you can record the signals from the decks post fader. For easy change-overs, the Rane Sixty-Four is equipped with two USB ports - exceptionally useful if you're DJing with a partner. Simply assign an input to one of the USB ports, and audio and MIDI will be automatically assigned to your computer.

Complete control with the Rane DJ mixer

Ideally, you don't want to have to rely on your computer keyboard and mouse when you're operating your Serato DJ software. Fortunately, the Sixty-Four has a number of controls that are assigned to Serato DJ functions, such as loading tracks, scrolling, creating cue points and much more. If you're working with a different type of software, it's also possible to assign the controls using MIDI mapping. An advanced BPM meter makes it easier to sync your tracks, and the analogue channels of the mixer are equipped with a three-band EQ and high and low-pass filters. The precision crossfader - what would you do without it? - is of the contact-free kind, so it won't wear out under extensive use.

NAMM 2016: RCF and dB Technologies Present Spin-Off Mixars

Thursday 21 January 2016 By Lizanne

The last couple weeks, we've only seen online teasers of the new brand, Mixars. Apparently, the brain behind this company is in Italy at dB Technologies! Yes, that's right. dB Technologies is known for a countless number of smooth-sounding active loud speakers. It's therefore pretty remarkable that this brand is announcing their debut in a time where the DJ market seems pretty over-saturated as it is. It's been years since a serious DJ brand appeared out of nowhere, and the Italians sure seems determined to succeed with their entry-level product range and is ready to take on some heavy competition.
