General

This platter deck controller is part of Behringer's CMD series, which is a line of MIDI controllers that offers you the freedom to create your own personalized DJ setup. All of the CMD controllers match one another. Not only to they match visually, but they are software-compatible, and they can all be mounted together! This makes it easy for you to pick the controllers you like best to put together in an all-in one dream setup.

The PL-1 is a platter controller, or in other words, a deck controller. It has all the options you need, including a large touch-sensitive jog wheel, diverse shortcuts, 8 hot-cues and parameter rotaries for effects. You can also switch between four layers, which means that this one PL-1 functions as four decks!

Shortcuts on the PL-1 controller

The PL-1 is equipped with a number of shortcut keys placed around the jog wheel. As a result, the tap, scratch, sync and deck functions are all easy to access while you're spinning, meaning you can get music ready, edit it and mix it much faster. Furthermore, functions such as pitch fader, 8 hot cues, pitch bend and track search are also included. All of these features mean that you're taking home a powerful controller that's compatible with just about any DJ software out there.

Backlit buttons, rings and indicators

One of the first things you'll notice about this controller is that it's very well lit. This is really convenient because it offers you continuous visual feedback in real time. The rotary encoders are equipped with an activation LED, and there's also a parameter LED ring that continuously indicates the value. Furthermore, there's a bi-coloured LED light available by the deck selector, which lets you know which deck is being operated by which controller.

Another fun feature is the pitch fader, which is located on the side and equipped with and LED strip. Should the pitch in your software change because you've used the sync button, then this is indicated via the LEDs next to the pitch fader.
