General

Vox-made pedals and amplifiers are now being given the full Nutube treatment, so with this revolution-of-a-tube at its core, the Copperhead Drive manages to reach back through time and space and pull classic full-stack sound straight out of the eighties. This fuss-free distortion pedal provides standard-issue Gain, Volume, treble, Middle, Bass pots and a Bright switch for shaping the character of sound, while the fully analogue circuit delivers all of the dynamic range and the headroom you'd only usually get from a genuine, souped-up valve amp. All of this is courtesy of that special little Nutube, and since this is a next-gen tube, it's smaller than its ancestors, much more energy efficient, and drains batteries at a far slower rate.

The Vox Copperhead Drive

The Copperhead Drive offers three connection settings: Standard, Preamp, and Cab-Sim. Standard gives you the option of hooking the pedal up to your amplifier via the instrument-level; Preamp enables the Copperhead to be set up as a preamp for your amplifier; and Cab-Sim delivers a line-level output signal enhanced by a speaker simulation so that you can connect the pedal directly to a mixing desk or audio interface. Another thoughtful addition is the switch function where two pedals can be coupled using a standard 3.5mm mini-jack cable via the CH-SW input, so that one pedal can be active, while the other is bypassed, essentially mimicking the 'channel switching' principle of an amplifier.

Built-In OLED Display

The face of this stompbox has been finished with an incredibly clear OLED screen that displays an oscilloscope, providing a lush visual representation of the influence of the pot settings over the waveform, which is nothing short of awesome. In fact, this pedal is nothing short of awesome. The reason it's so good at emulating the sound of a full eighties valve-driven amp, is because essentially, that's what it is! The smart Nutube technology coupled with the switching technology and set of three setup options simply takes this Valvenergy Series offering to places where effects pedals have never been before.
