General

The top-notch pedals by the New-Zealand brand Red Witch strive to stand out from the rest. At first glance, this Famulus overdrive pedal may look like noting special, but it's more than meets the eye. This effects pedal is equipped with two discrete parallel gain circuits, which means the raunchier you play, the more your clean signal is pushed to the background. You can also choose to bring the clean more towards the foreground if desired.

Famulus Overdrive: overdrive magic

The Famulus has kept things simple: it has five rotary knobs and a footswitch. The volume control is self-explanatory but Red Witch have given the tone control more of a presence function. There are two gain controls that send the overdrive through different circuits; circuit A delivers a biting, crunchy distortion and B produces more pronounced mid tones. Finally, there's the alchemy control, which controls which circuits are being used. Set it to 0 to use circuit A and 10 for just B. The more you go towards the middle, the more the two circuits will blend together for a completely unique sound.
