The Finnish brand Mad Professor Amplification have been making amplifiers and pedals of exceptional quality since 2002. Their Factory Series produces the same class at an affordable price. The Royal Blue Overdrive is a stylish and rugged stomp box that produces a wide range of distortion. At the drive potentiometer's lowest setting, this Mad Professor pedal can even be used as an equalizer.
Mad Professor Royal Blue Overdrive Factory: high dynamic sensitivity
The Royal Blue Overdrive has a very high dynamic response; the more powerful you strum, the more overdrive you'll get. Play softer, and the sound of your guitar will get a mildly rough edge. This kind of high-grade dynamic response really lets you put your heart into your playing. The core sound is determined using the volume and drive potentiometers. Drive sets the level of distortion, while volume adjusts the output level of the pedal.
Traditional and modern overdrive
The two other potentiometers allow for the difference between a traditional or modern overdrive sounds. The bass and treble controls allow you to adjust the low and high tones. Turn the treble up and this potentiometer will become a presence control by adding more sparkle to the sound. Do the same with the bass control to add a resonance that simulates the sound of a standard 4x12 speaker cabinet.

Het voelt stevig en degelijk aan, met idem knoppen en on/off switch.
Net zoals in de productinformatie staat is dit pedaaltje heerlijk touch sensitive. Wanneer je de snaren van je gitaar zacht aanslaat of je volumeknop op je gitaar terug draait, kan je een bijna clean geluid laten klinken.
Het pedaal is ook zeer transparant. Zeker met de treble en bass knoppen op 12 uur. Maar je kan net zo makkelijk een mid boost of een heel vol/vet geluid creëren door deze knoppen respectievelijk helemaal terug of juist vol open te draaien.
Zelf gebruik ik het pedaaltje voor mijn buizenversterker (die net op het randje van breken staat) met de drive op iets voor 12 uur, bass op 2 u en treble iets over 12 u voor vol overdrive geluid zonder veel sustain.
Ik kan de Mad Professor Royal Blue Overdrive zeker aanbevelen!
