General

The Mad Professor Mighty Red Distortion offers you '80s-style distortion and compression without the noise that inescapably came these effects back in the day. Innovative amplification technology and low-noise amplifying increments imbue the MRD with pure brightness and definition that are maintained even when you turn up the distortion. On top of that, the MRD can be safely placed after the boost or overdrive pedal in your existing effects chain to get crystal-clear, over-the-top distortion.

The Benefits of the MRD

If you're particularly fond of high-gain, compressed '80s tone then chances are you've encountered noise issues before. Most distortion pedals deal with this via a noise-gate, but the drawback of these is that they cut off the sound at a pre-determined level and, as a result, leave you with a significant chance of losing part of your signal along with the noise. Since the Mighty Red Distortion doesn't actually feature a noise-gate, you won't even experiencing any of these problems in the first place.

Using the MRD

Just like most distortion pedals, the controls of the MRD speak for themselves. As such, the Volume and Distortion control probably require no further explanation. The Presence pot sets the treble response without affecting the mid-range; turn it to the left for a warm dose of thick distortion or turn it to the right to infuse your lead parts with screaming tone. If you're ready to teleport back to the '80s, Mad Professor's Mighty Red Distortion is your tonal time-machine.

Tips or comments about this product
  • The used circuits not only ensure a nice and low signal/noise ratio but relatively high power consumption. As such, it's recommended to keep a spare battery handy during extended playing sessions or to power the MRD using a power supply.
