If you're hunting for a Rat-style distortion but can't decide on which type to go for, then worry not, because JHS Pedals has wrapped no-less-than nine of them up in the PackRat stompbox and released it into the wild. Twist the selector pot through seven classic Rats plus an extra two special variations on the theme: one made by JHS and one provided by the Caroline Guitar Company. Simply set the Volume, Distortion and Filter pots to 12 o'clock, scroll through the nine possible Rats, and quickly find the right Rat for your style and setup.

The JHS Pedals PackRat: The Complete Collection

This pedal really does cover the full gambit of guitar-based Rats. The OG Rat distortion already has legendary status and needs little introduction, while the White Face and Turbo variations offer some mid and late '80s flavour. Flip into Brat or Dirty, and you gain two very special versions from 1997 and 2004 and, if you want something more classic, then go for LA Metal or Landgraff MO’D and have at it. Any true Rat connoisseurs will also find a lot to drool over in the JHS version and the stunning Caroline Wave Cannon version, so simply select your Rat, adjust the output level and distortion level, then darken or brighten the result via the Filter pot and mould your bespoke Rat to shape.
