General

Just in case you didn't think a single Muff was good enough, Electro Harmonix has come up with the Double Muff.

Two?

Indeed, the Double Muff combines two Muffs in a single pedal. The pedal has been modelled after the original 1969 Muff Fuzz, the sound of which resembled a vintage amplifier with a broken speaker. A single Muff adds a fuzz distortion to your sound that is present, but never overindulgent. The second Muff, however, really drives your sound over the top with a serious overdrive that could only come from an Electro Harmonix pedal.

Control

In order to neatly operate the Muff, you'll have to use the volume knob of your guitar. Switched to single mode, the effect produces less overdrive if you turn your volume down. Turn up the Muff 1 knob on the pedal to increase your output. In double mode, both Muff knobs interact with each other, allowing you to tweak your sound and to increase the volume to perfection.

The Nano Double Muff is quite popular among Electro Harmonix pedal users. You too could be one its lucky owners!

Electro Harmonix Double Muff Fuzz overdrive pedal

Definitely the best fuzz/distortion pedal you can get for the money. If I had more money at the time I may have gone for something more pricey but this does exactly the job I wanted and in a very small case allowing more room on my pedal board. The 2 muff controls give you a lot of control over the amount of fuzz you require. The only issue you would have with this over a Big Muff Pi for example is that there is no volume control however when on double mode the first dial pretty much acts as volume and the second dial as your gain. If you're after anything from a vintage overdrive to a massive rock sound (probably not metal) and you're on a budget, this is the pedal for you, nothing else will compare.
