General

Back in the not too distant beginning, American start-up, Earthquaker Devices decided that they wouldn't ever enter the TS-style overdrive pedal market. Following relentless demand, Earthquaker couldn't help but cave and dove headlong into in-depth research on original 808 models and various modern adaptations, with the ultimate goal being the creation of the ultimate TS-style overdrive pedal. Unapologetically, Earthquaker now present the Palisades: one of the most versatile screamer-style overdrive pedals in the world with two channels, variable clipping, five different capacitors and boost crammed into a single housing.

The Tweaker's Dream

Overdrive is generated based on many factors, but the clipping diodes and input capacitors have got to be the most important ones. In a nutshell, clipping refers to the distorting of sound, which pedals achieve in different ways using different types of diodes. This is what it's all about, but keep in mind that different diodes create different timbres too. Now, the Palisades V2 actually offers the sounds of six different types of diodes, including lift, silicone, asymmetrical silicone, MOSFET, LED and Schottky diodes. In addition, by using the Bandwidth control, you can select one of five different input capacitors as well, completing an easy-to-use overdrive pedal that's no doubt every tone-tweaker's dream.

Earthquaker Devices

The American company Earthquaker Devices was founded in 2004 by accident. When a potentiometer on founder and guitarist Jamie Stillman's favourite overdrive pedal broke, he decided to repair it himself. When he opened the pedal, he found the circuitry a lot easier to understand than he expected and it wasn't long before he made his first pedal. Stillman launched Earthquaker Devices in 2005, while he worked as tour manager for the Black Keys (from 2004 to 2010). The brand has now grown in size and popularity and now, Earthquaker Devices are known for their affordable handwired boutique-style pedals that are built by musicians for musicians!

EarthQuaker Devices Palisades Overdrive V2 Effect Pedal
Wrote the following about EarthQuaker Devices Palisades Overdrive V2 Effect Pedal
