General

Any DJ in the market for a durable, complete turntable should take the Mixars LTA into consideration. This black direct-drive turntable meets all your DJ demands, with a high starting torque of >4.5 kgf/cm, which means the platter will return to its previous speed in no time after every interruption. While we're on the subject of speed, you not only have the choice between two familiar rotation speeds (33 1/3, 45), but also three pitch resolutions (+/- 8%, +/- 16%, and +/-50%). This allows you to determine how strongly the speed should increase or decrease with any pitch-control adjustment.

RCA times two

The LTA has yet another unique selling point besides its die-cast aluminium platter. On the rear, you'll find not one but two RCA connectors. These enable you to hook up two mixers to easily set up a scratch battle, for instance. You don't need a phono input on the mixer, incidentally, as both outputs work as lines, but output 1 can be turned into a phono connector, if desired. At the end of the day, this powerful turntable is a reliable musical partner for scratch DJs and critical music-lovers alike.

The last couple weeks, we've only seen online teasers of the new brand, Mixars. Apparently, the brain behind this company is in Italy at dB Technologies! Yes, that's right. dB Technologies is known for a countless number of smooth-sounding active loud speakers. It's therefore pretty remarkable that this brand is announcing their debut in a time where the DJ market seems pretty over-saturated as it is. It's been years since a serious DJ brand appeared out of nowhere, and the Italians sure seems determined to succeed with their entry-level product range and is ready to take on some heavy competition.

Serato DJ 1.8 Now Supported By OS X El Capitan

Serato has announced that their software is now supported by Apple's latest OS, El Capitan (version 10.11.1). You can download the latest version of Serato DJ here. There are still a few bugs, but Serato has indicated that they aim to fix those as soon as possible. Here you can read about the issues that still affect Pioneer, Rane, Numark, Novation and Reloop hardware. As mentioned above, Serato is working hard to fix any and all problems.
