General

Are you in the market for a radio with DAB+ technology that fits in your pocket? Then look no further than the Sony XDR-P1DBP! DAB technology is considered the successor to FM and is becoming increasingly popular, as it allows you to receive radio stations digitally and enjoy ultra-clear audio representation with minimal interference. Because a digital station uses less data than an analogue one, you'll have a much broader selection to choose from as well! Do you still want the option to listen to FM radio as well? You can with the XDR-P1DBP's integrated telescopic antenna. Finally, its light weight and compact size make it easy to take with you wherever you go.

Sony XDR-P1DBP: pocket-size radio with modern functionality

This radio features a 4-inch speaker that delivers 1.5 watts of power and mono sound. For stereo sound, simply plug in a set of headphones using the mini jack output. A backlit display on the device shows information about the radio stations you're listening to and have at your disposal. With the controls on the front, you can switch between DAB+ and FM. It also has an auto-tune function and a control for navigating through the various stations. Last but not least, there's no need to worry about a power socket until you need to recharge the lithium-ion battery!

DAB+ technology: a modern way to listen to the radio

At this time, analogue FM is still the standard, but DAB+ technology is on the precipice of changing the radio landscape as we know it for good. Most (big) radio stations support this method of broadcasting already. Digital radio technology makes it possible to receive stations you could only hear via internet, for instance. Also, DAB+ includes more information about the station, which you can read on the display.

Are You Ready for DAB+ Digital Radio?

Tuesday 19 April 2016 By Julie Alexander

In the near future, old-fashioned AM/FM radio will be replaced by digital radio, also known as DAB radio (Digital Audio Broadcast). Because AAC audio deals with available bandwidth more efficiently, other media such as traffic information, program information and slide shows can also be transmitted via DAB+ protocol
