With the Clavinova digital piano range, Yamaha shows us they know how to reproduce the authentic sound and feel of an acoustic grand piano. This Polished Ebony CLP-635PE features realistic samples from their very own CFX as well as the world-famous Bösendorfer Imperial grand pianos. What's more, you've got 34 other sounds at your fingertips as well as 20 accompaniments. The keyboard consists of 88 Hammer Action keys; the ivories have a layer of synthetic coating and the black keys are made of real ebony. You'll be able to play with the same freedom and expression as you would on an acoustic model.
Virtual Resonance Modelling
What makes the sound of a grand piano so unique is greatly due to how the tone resonates through the housing. Thanks to Virtual Resonance Modelling technology, Yamaha has been able to simulate a grand piano's string and attenuation resonance as well as key-off samples. It also features Binaural Sampling, which means the position of the pianist has been taken into account while recording the piano samples. As a result, you hear the sound you would expect to hear from an acoustic piano, even if you use headphones.
Possibilities
This digital piano has a set of features you simply won't find on an acoustic model. The keyboard has layer, split, and duo modes that allow you to double or combine sounds, or divide the entire keyboard in two. Furthermore, there are a variety of DSP effects and a 16-track recorder built in so you can record up to 250 songs. You can also play along with 50 pre-programmed songs or use any of the 303 lesson tracks. Last but not least, this piano includes a USB port for even more digital possibilities.

Pour ce qui est du piano, rien à redire. Touché incroyable, super coffre, plein de choix en sonorités, je nai vraiment rien à redire. Et le laqué est magnifique.
De zwarte glanslak is echt een plus, dat geeft de piano een veel klassiekere uitstraling en dat hoort toch wel een beetje bij een dergelijk instrument.
De CLP-635 heeft ten opzichte van de duurdere 645 vrijwel alle functies aan boord (alleen bluetooth ontbreekt). Het gebruik van software synthesizers en andere muziekapps op de iPad is erg makkelijk, het enige wat je nodig hebt is een lightning-naar-usb kabel, zelfs de audio loopt daarover. Op mijn vorige piano (de CLP-170) moest ik de audio nog terugsturen via de koptelefoonaansluiting van de iPad.
De pianosample is vergeleken met mijn vorige piano sterk verbeterd. En dit is zelfs te merken ondanks het feit dat de versterking van de CLP-635 veel minder is dan die van de CLP-170. De CLP-635 voelt, klinkt en speelt veel meer als een echte piano.
Naast de CFX en Bösendorfer sample kan ik trouwens ook de Upright sample aanraden, die schijnt van een SU7 upright piano gesampeld te zijn. Klinkt vooral in de lage en hoge regionen erg goed.
Zelf gekozen voor de hoogglans zwarte uitvoering en nog geen seconde spijt gehad.
Qua meubelstuk een prachtexemplaar wat belangrijk was voor mijn vriendin maar voornamelijk voor mezelf een elektronische piano die alles in zich heeft om je uren op te slorpen. Eéntje waarop ik kan blijven spelen.
