General

The Casio PX-S1000 is one of the slimmest digital pianos in the world. Casio's R&D department has been going full throttle, resulting in the brand new Smart Scaled Hammer Action keyboard that carefully emulates the feel of acoustic and grand pianos via authentic, individual key response for the ultimate playing feel. If you want to make the most of this digital piano, it's definitely recommended that you download the Chordana Play for Piano app onto your smartphone or tablet.

Casio PX-S1000 Digital Piano in Red

The PX-S1000 packs 18 different sounds, including an astonishing grand piano in stereo. Much like the real thing, you can even hear the string and damper resonance, as well as the mechanical sounds produced by the pedals and keys. In addition, the usual organs, strings, vibraphone and harpsichord sounds haven't been forgotten. What's remarkable about this digital piano are the touch-sensor controls on the top, which light up only when the device is turned on. If switched off, you're left with a stylishly neat surface that's easy to clean.

Connection Options

The PX-S1000 is equipped with Bluetooth, which makes it possible to stream music directly from any smart device, but you can also use the auxiliary input if you own a device that doesn't have Bluetooth. Sounds are played back through the digital piano's 8-Watt speakers, though you could also choose to connect one, or even two sets of headphones. You can also find a stereo line output round the back, that can be used to connect this digital piano to audio equipment such PA systems or mixers. To finish, an SP-3 damper pedal comes included, but it's also possible to connect the separately available SP-34 Triple Pedal and a matching Casio stand.

NAMM 2016: Yamaha DGX-660 Digital Piano

Thursday 21 January 2016

Thanks to their wooden housing, digital pianos usually blend in nicely with the rest of your furniture. Keyboards, on the other hand, tend to stick out a bit more. These instruments have the same options as a keyboard, but their housing (with stand) ensures they don't stand out too much in your living room.
