General

With the Casio PX-760BK, Casio has introduced a comprehensive digital piano with an attractive price tag. If you're serious about learning how to play the piano, this chic black model offers everything you need to get off to a flying start, but it's also a great instrument if you just like to play when the mood strikes. Thanks to the AiR (Acoustic and intelligent Resonator) system, the PX-760BK produces a convincing acoustic piano sound. Its Tri-sensor Scaled Hammer Action Keyboard II, meanwhile, has keys that feel like real ebony and ivory that accurately simulate the hammer response of a grand piano. This Casio digital piano comes with a stand, a sheet music stand and three pedals.

PX-760BK: a comprehensive package

First and foremost, a good digital piano is able to imitate its acoustic counterpart to great effect. The PX-760BK certainly manages that, and throws a couple of interesting digital extras into the deal for good measure. Not only does it offer 18 different sounds (including other pianos and organs), it also features various effects, like reverb and chorus. A practical MIDI recorder allows you to record your own performance, so you can play it back for evaluation. Connect the piano to your computer by means of a separately available USB cable, and you're able to store much more music in MIDI format. Would you like to learn how to play the PX-760BK's built-in songs? The sheet music is included, and it's possible to practise the left and right-hand parts separately. Ten Concert Play songs even come with full orchestral backing!

Sound and playing experience

To precisely register the force of your key strokes, the PX-760BK is equipped with a tri-sensor mechanism. Quick repeats are accurately reproduced, and this Casio is even capable of simulating the tiny differences in timing that occur due to different playing styles and keys. The lower keys feel much heavier than the higher ones, just like those of a real grand piano. To make the sound really authentic, factors like attack, sustain and decay have been taken into account, and you can clearly hear the difference in timbre between softly played passages and more vehement parts. Damper Resonance, finally, convincingly mimics the rich resonance you hear when you press down a sustain pedal.
