General
The compact, yet comprehensive Soundcraft Si Performer 2 digital mixer is intuitive to use and offers plenty of possibilities. The clean control panel has 22 channels and two master faders. Each channel features a small LCD display so you can see what you've selected. You can adjust the inputs and outputs as well as the gate, compression and 4-band parametric EQ. At the far right, there's a full-colour touch screen for even more options.

When completely connected, you'll have 80 channels at your disposal that you can further expand on by means of two ViSi Connect expansion cards for a total of 128 inputs and 96 outputs. The clear layout and dedicated functions makes it virtually impossible to lost your way around this mixer. What's more, the faders feature FaderGlow backlighting that changes colour depending on the selected function (effects, stereo, GEQ, etcetera).

Komende van een analoge tafel welke me altijd goed geholpen heeft is dit toch wel echt een paar stappen voorwaarts. Geluidskwaliteit is fantastisch. Helder, gedefinieerd en andere kant diep en vol detail. Nou klinkt dat erg audiofiel, maar het verschil is anders niet te beschrijven.
In combinatie met een ministagebox16 gekocht, geeft me 40 kanalen om te mixen, samen met de line inputs en de fx returns kom ik op 64 outputs, ruimte genoeg voor 8 monitor mixen en daarnaast nog 6 (!) stereo aux routes voor externe effect apparaten. De bij de stagebox geleverde uitbreidingskaart heeft ook een USB poort, deze zorgt voor 32 in en 32 uit. Tafel gebruikt voor een opname met Adobe Audition, strak geluid.
Voordelen t.o.v. analoog en vele "budget" digitale tafels
Uitbreidingskaarten, breiden ook echt uit. Een 16 kanaals stagebox voegt ook daadwerkelijk 16 ingangen toe aan de tafel, en niet "in plaats van".
Alle bussen een volledige equalizer, dit gaat niet ten kosten van DSP power.
4 voudige FX unit is zeer bruikbaar
Tafel is volledig aan te passen naar smaak, elke functie kan op elke layer en op elke fader.
Volledige parametrische equalizer per kanaal
Ingebouwde dynamics en gates zijn zeker geschikt. Niet voor alles.
Geluidskwaliteit is superieur.
Zijn er ook nadelen. Ja, een paar kleine nadelen.
Input kanalen sturen redelijk eenvoudig over. En digitale clipping klinkt best wel k****
Input en monitor metering is niet consitent.
De Visi connect app alleen voor Apple.
De scribblestrips hebben een contrastregeling met een eigen leven. Lijkt of het afhankelijk is van de warmte.
Geen analoge channel inserts. Als analoge geluidsman, ben ik hieraan gehecht. Toegegeven, met de lading dynamics is het minder noodzakelijk. De digitale inserts die aanwezig zijn, zijn niet helemaal jofel aan de software toegevoegd, het is echter bruikbaar.
Het kost je niet een maar twee ribben, maar dan heb je ook wat.
