General

The Mackie DL1608 (Lightning) is a revolutionary mixer. Instead of the traditional physical knobs and faders, this mixer has a dock for your iPad 4, or (in combination with a separately available tray) your iPad Mini. Your tablet then serves as a large, clear control centre for the DL 1608's 16 inputs and 8 outputs. The mixer itself provides the processing power. If you want to dock an iPad 1, 2 or 3, use the Mackie DL1608 30-pin iPad mixer instead.

The DL1608's plugins

This reliable, manageable Mackie mixer offers a surprising range of sound editing options. Using the touch screen of your iPad 4 or iPad Mini, you can not only control the volume and 4-band EQ for each channel, but also the gate, compression, delay and reverb plugins. Each of the DL1608's outputs can be precisely adjusted by means of a 31-band equalizer, a limiter and a compressor. Would you like to mix with your iPad, iPod or iPhone while you're walking around the room? You can - all you have to do is connect an optional router.

Inputs and outputs

The Mackie DL 1608 offers a variety of inputs and outputs. There are 16 microphone channels, all supported by excellent Onyx preamplifiers and Cirrus Logic AD/DA converters, and 4 microphone line channels. High headroom and exceptionally low noise and distortion ensure that both the softest whispers and the loudest guitar leads are reproduced in high quality. To complete the package, the Mackie iPad mixer also features two XLR outputs and 6 AUX sends for your monitors.

Tips or comments about this product

Please note:

  • For wireless control via your iPad, you need a Wi-Fi router (which is not included) that is within range of the iPad.

  • For the iPad 1, 2 and 3 you'll need a different version of the mixer: the Mackie DL1608 30-pin iPad mixer.
  • If you want to use the iPad Mini, you'll require a separately available iPad Mini Tray Kit.
