General

If the Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol S8 is a tad too big for your taste, you should definitely check out the Traktor Kontrol D2. In essence, this controller represents a single deck of the S8 - in a way, it's a hybrid edition of the Kontrol X1 and F1. Just like its big brother, the S8 scores big when it comes to visual feedback and intuitive control. It's equipped with touch strips, eight performance pads and a full-colour display, which enable you to expertly control Traktor without taking lessons first. Would you like to work with two D2s? You can easily link them by means of the USB hub at the rear. The included power supply splitter enables you to power both controllers with minimal cabling.

The Traktor Kontrol D2: ready for STEMS

The Traktor Kontrol D2 is the first controller that's fully prepared for Native Instruments' new audio format STEMS. Tracks in STEMS format - which consist of a single stereo mix and four different discrete groupings of instruments - can be loaded into a Stem deck, enabling you to make on-the-fly remixes. The controller's faders and controls correspond with individual Stems and put you in control of the mix, tone control and effects for each of them. In the top right corner you'll find four buttons - the main difference from an S8 deck - which enable you to select any of Traktor's four decks. That means that a single D2 suffices as a DJ setup. Retractable feet allow you to tilt the controller towards you for a better viewing angle, or to place it at an average mixer height.

Traktor Kontrol D2: visual feedback

The D2's full-colour display enables you to focus on your music instead of your laptop. It allows you to monitor a browse view, a beatgrid view, an FX panel, a remix view and a freeze view. When you adjust a specific function, like BPM or a filter, a pop-up screen appears that provides you with information or parameters. Thanks to this visual feedback, you no longer have to rely on your laptop screen, which hugely benefits the interaction with your audience. If you're looking for a way to incorporate the functionality of an S8 into your existing DJ setup, the Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol D2 controller is the way to go!

Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol D2 controller
Wrote the following about Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol D2 controller

Native Instruments has announced that Traktor and all related software and hardware are now fully supported by Apple's latest operating system, OS X 10.11.1 El Capitan. Please note, however, that the Traktor 2.10.0 installer is still dependent on the latest drivers. To do so, visit the NI Service Center, click 'Update' and then 'Show Details' in the 'Driver and Patch Downloads' section.
