Clearsonic A5-7 drum screen

General

The ClearSonic drum screen is designed to separate the sound of a drum kit from other audio sources, especially in a recording studio to avoid crosstalk. It also improves the acoustics of the space for an optimal sound. This screen is made up of seven transparent acrylic panels that are attached together (accordion-style), making it easy to unfold. In fact, setting up takes about 30 seconds! The panels are 6.3 mm thick and 168 cm tall. Each one is 60 cm wide for a total width of 420 cm. The edges are finished and the corners are rounded to provide extra space between the panels to run power or microphone cables through.

Sometimes it's necessary to separate the acoustics of a room in order to get a good, balanced sound. With this ClearSonic screen, you can prevent the drums from being captured by other microphones so the sound engineer can make a good mix, and so the other recording musicians can hear themselves better. ClearSonic screens are used in various situations, such as in orchestras during live performances and in the studio to prevent crosstalk. They aren't always used for drums, either; they can also be used to isolate other audio sources.

Acoustics

When you place screens in a venue, you're altering the acoustics of that space, which can solve a number of problems; most importantly, feedback. Unfortunately, screens do not solve all your problems. Even though they directly reflect the sound, the vibrations are dispersed to the back of the room or towards the ceiling. This could create a short delay resulting in overlapped, jumbled audio at the back. To solve this problem, ClearSonic also offers Sorber sound absorbing panels which work well in combination with the A5-7.
