Playing the unique didgeridoo

Although the Meinl DDG1-R didgeridoo is a wind instrument, that does not mean that you play it the same way as brasswind instruments, for instance. Those require you to keep your lips tight to get any sound out of them, but with the didgeridoo, the exact opposite is true. The characteristic didgeridoo sound requires you to keep your lips loose. You could play it while keeping your lips tight, but that would produce a trumpet-like sound and is not the way that didgeridoos are usually played. By altering your breathing you can coax different tones from the didge, which helps you develop great control over your respiratory system.
