In the early '70s, when Hohner added a synthetic comb to the Special 20 Classic, this sparked a revolutionary change in the world of harmonicas. The addition, combined with stainless steel cover plates with closed sides, helped make the harmonica extremely airtight and allowed for lightning-quick response. Furthermore, a synthetic comb is incredibly durable, lasting much longer than a wooden comb, since the plastic doesn't expand. The harmonica's mouthpiece is also made of plastic, making it very comfortable to play. The Special 20 Classic is suitable for a wide range of genres, from country and folk, to blues and soul. Its 20 brass reeds are attached to the reed plate with screws, and the reed plates can be replaced if you so desire.
