For over 120 years, the Marine Band has been a popular instrument among beginners, more advanced players and professionals alike. Even renowned musicians like Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen often use it! The Marine Band Deluxe is a redesigned, enhanced version of the original Marine Band.
Improvements
In order to guarantee a loud, consistent volume, Hohner has improved the design of the Marine Band Deluxe harmonica. That means it's now more than able of keeping up with a band! The redesigned harmonica fits comfortably in your hand, and its rounded mouthpiece enhances your playing pleasure even more. The use of new reed profiles prolongs the life of the Marine Band Deluxe, and in order to counter swelling, the harmonica's comb has a triple lacquer finish. These days, many harmonicas come with a plastic mouthpiece, but the Marine Band Deluxe's comb is made of pear wood, ensuring an authentic sound.

Het formaat Marine Band is een iets kleiner formaat mondharmonica in vergelijking met de Meisterklasses die ik heb. De Meisterklasses hebben het maximale formaat dat ik prettig bespeelbaar vind. De Marine Band Deluxe valt ruim binnen de grens van het prettig bespeelbare.
Je kan het verschil wel goed merken. Bij de Meisterklasses heb je net zoals bij andere klassieke mondharmonica’s, ook de Marine Band Classic, iets meer overtuiging nodig om ze te laten doen wat je wilt, maar ze doen het ook uitstekend.
De groten hebben met vergelijkbare mondharmonica’s memorabele prestaties geleverd. Van de Marine Band Deluxe zouden ze net zoals ik eerst kort even schrikken en daarna heel hard lachen. Het is en een lief en een gemeen klein machientje dat je onder controle moet leren houden, want het springt zo alle kanten op.
De Marine Band Deluxe is machinaal vervaardigd met klassieke machines, maar moderne kwaliteit. De enige manier om nog een hogere precisie te bewerkstelligen is gebruik maken van spot welding in plaats van rivets en laser gestuurd snij- en constructiewerk.
Dat zijn de vereisten als je naast klassiek tonen buigen ook met zekerheid wilt kunnen overbenden. Dat is het enige dat deze in dat opzicht klassiekere mondharmonica niet consistent kan, maar ook dat is iets dat binnen de mondharmonica wereld al decennia standaard is en wordt meegenomen in de meeste lesboeken.
Dit is een zeer sterk mooi klein instrument met ongekende superkrachten.
