General
The longer the cable, the higher the signal loss. Using a DI box to amplify the signal can help, but the longer a cable is the less a passive DI box will actually do to improve your signal. The Devine MPS DI 500, the MPS DI 100's active brother, will solve this issue. This DI box is powered by a 9V battery and features two inputs (jack and XLR), and a link (jack). On the left of the device you'll find a switchable attenuator to reduce the volume of the signal by 20 or 40 dB.
Simply Devine
You can connect the MPS DI 500 to your mixer via the single XLR output. If you notice any buzzing or humming sounds, typically caused by ground looping, just flick the ground-lift switch to eliminate them. The link function on the front allows you to include an amplifier in your mix, or to hook up a stereo instrument to one of the channels.
