General
The Fazley DR-28 recorder is an excellent instrument for music novices. Because it's made of plastic, it's low maintenance and resistant to moisture. The instrument consists of three parts; the head joint, mid section and foot joint. In the mid section are six holes for your fingers and one for your thumb. The foot joint features a seventh hole. The fipple is made of plastic and is removable and replaceable. This model is a Baroque recorder which is suitable for beginners, as are recorders with German fingering. Players who start on a recorder with German fingering typically end up moving on to the more popular Baroque instrument anyway, so it really makes more sense just to start there. This recorder will see you through many years. It's a great instrument for young or old players.
The recorder
The recorder is an ideal instrument for someone taking their first music lessons and learning to read music. Plastic records have a number of advantages over their wooden counterparts. The tuning is more stable and the instrument is resistant to moisture. Such recorders require virtually no maintenance. Because they're generally cheap to buy, recorders are popular instruments in primary schools and music schools when starting to learn to play music. Many musicians got their start with the recorder!
