If you're looking for your first soprano recorder, then the Aura S3B practise recorder is an enjoyable as well as educational choice. It has Baroque fingering, which means that the fourth finger hole (for your right index finger) is smaller than the fifth hole, (for your right middle finger). This is exactly the opposite with German boring. The S3B also has double boring, which means the lower two holes are doubled, making it easier to play the note even if the holes are only partially covered.

Pearwood and cedar

Aura sets the bar pretty high when it comes to the quality of the wood used for their recorders. Pearwood is commonly used, as it has soft, round tonal characteristics. Only the very best wood types are used in Aura's instruments, pearwood is used for the mid section and cedar for the head joint. The tenon features two rubber rings. The S3B comes in a luxurious pouch, and includes a fingering chart and a pipe cleaner.
