New functions in Ableton Live 9 Intro

Ableton Live is used to make clips with MIDI data or audio, and then to piece those clips together into a composition. You choose the active clip yourself—a process that is very swift when you use a controller. If you’re improvising on stage, for instance, you’re not going to want to have to search for the right sound. The new browser makes sure that doesn’t happen, and makes it easy for you to find what you’re looking for in the 3 GB of included sounds. You can also automatize the parameters to make impressive effects like filter-sweeps. Simply use the assigned pad or knob on the controller, or make the curves with your mouse. Finally, the new DSP effects give your project the perfect touch.

Who is this software for?

The Intro edition is inexpensive and therefore attractive for aspiring producers. It also offers an extremely comprehensive interface that’s easy to understand and use. You can use Ableton software to compose in any genre, though it’s been most popular in Electro subgenres like dance, trance and dubstep. This version offers fewer sounds and tracks than the larger Standard and Suite versions, but it still has more than enough to get your feet wet. Once you’re ready for more, you can always upgrade to Standard or Suite, making Intro a great place for future Armins, Skrillexes and Daft Punks to get started.
