General

If you're just starting to learn to play the drums, you need less cymbals than you might think. Of course it's fun to build a kit with an immense wall of cymbals, but when it comes to the solid basics, all you really need is a good hi-hat and a crash-ride. Even if you just prefer a paired down kit, the 14" hi-hats and 18" crash-ride included in this HCS Bronze Series pack from Meinl gives you exactly what you need. Made in Germany using B8-alloy, these cymbals deliver a bright and brilliantly explosive sound. The sustain and volume have been kept to a medium so the sound is neither too big or small, too long or too short, meaning that they can be applied to pretty much any playing style, but really come into their own when playing pop or rock. For drummers that are just starting to get their heads around rhythms and fills, this pack really does give you everything you need, but if you feel the itch later, you can always expand your set-up with a 20" ride, or a 16" crash. Meinl produces a range of HCS Bronze cymbals in various sizes (8" to 22") and different sound flavours and functions, including crashes, splashes, rides, and chinas.
