General

The Sabian AAX 16-inch, Medium Crash is the ideal cymbal for those moments when you need a bright accent with a gritty, complex layer. The large, raw finished bell gives a fuller sound and more projection and since this crash is hammered into form using a larger, rounder striking surface, the work is visible in the finished cymbal blade. This makes for a darker sounding crash with more complex undertones. Combined with the bright base sound of this medium thick crash, the Sabian AAX 16 inch is capable of a wide range of frequencies.

AAX Medium Crash 16-inch with EQ?

Each cymbal from the AAX series has undergone Sabian's bespoke 'Autofocus Response' treatment. This treatment helps to filter out any unwanted overtones and balances the many frequencies this cymbal can put out. This balancing happens regardless of whether you hit hard, soft or in somewhere in between. As such, you could see the 'Autofocus Response' treatment as a kind of in-built EQ making, sure that every time you hit it, you're getting a balanced sound without destroying any colour and depth.
