There are countless metal percussion instruments on the market, so coming up with something new is not easy. Latin Percussion has however, with their RAW Potz, which can be played with sticks, rods, brushes, or the palms of your hands.

Upon closer inspection of this instrument, it's hard to understand why someone hasn't come up with this idea before! To the naked eye, it looks like a metal lid turned upside-down. But, it is so much more than something you'd find in your kitchen cupboard! The RAW Potz is made of two components—a metal tube that has been cut to the right length and a metal lid welded to it as the drum 'head', so to speak. The inspiration for the RAW Potz surely comes form the shantytowns of Brazil, where, for lack of any proper materials, people create instruments out of anything they can find, including buckets, pots, and pans.

The RAW Potz has a high, short attack which is perfect for intricate rhythmic patterns. A clave pattern, or a Brazilian tambourine rhythm are no problem with the Potz; in fact, you'll be amazed at all this little instrument can do! At just 4 inches in diameter, it's the smallest in the series, and produces therefore also the highest tone. The RAW Potz is easy to integrate into any drum or percussion setup thanks to the mounting eyelets suitable for 3/8 or 1/2-inch rods.
