General

This little red box is a one-to-one reissue of the venerable DOD Compressor 280 pedal, so you can expect exactly the same subtle to powerful, sweet and welcoming electro-optical compression you could get out of the original. And, just like the original, this reincarnation has been built to balance and tame the volume of wild and dynamic riffs, licks, solos and rhythms while adding on some more sustain. More modern tweaks come in the form of a clean-running true bypass circuit, a convenient 9V power supply input and a lighter weight aluminium housing. As simple as ever, the compression level and volume level of this two-pot wonder is set via the neat Comp and Output controls.

The Compressor 280: Electro-Optical Compression

The Compressor 280 uses the much-loved electro-optical principle, meaning that the compression is managed by a photosensitive resistor that's triggered by an internal LED. At lower settings, the volume peaks of your playing are very subtly capped, resulting in clearer sound during quieter passages and less intense peaks when playing more powerful licks or heavy chords. Twist the Comp pot to open up the attack of every note, emphasise every chord and ensure the optimum volume level to prevent note death, before balancing everything out using the Output pot or pushing it up to set this stompbox up to serve as a volume boost.

DOD Compressor 280 Effect Pedal
Wrote the following about DOD Compressor 280 Effect Pedal
Very nice Compressor pedal. Does its job nicely being very transparent to your tone, and it never gets squashy, even at highest settings. It's surely comparable with higher priced compressors. Excellent rugged build quality and eye catching graphics. For the price, what could you ask more?
