General

The AV60 is the largest, most powerful tube amp combo in VOX's Analog Valve series. This completely analogue modelling amp offers the warm sound of two 12AX7 tubes as well as the choice between eight different amp types. The only digital aspect of this amp is a trio of effects that you can activate simultaneously and add to the eight preamp circuits available via both channels. With 60 watts of power and an Original 12-inch speaker, there is simply no stage too big for this beast.

AV60 Analog Valve: versatility galore

A standard amp with modelling functionality usually comes with all voicings digitally pre-programmed, and aside from the tone and volume knobs, there isn't a lot you can do to adjust the sound. The AV60 is a completely different story. Its 12AX7 preamplifier tube is connected to eight different circuits which can activate eight different types of amplifiers. This way, you can choose a clean Bassman-style sound, an original VOX AC30 crunch or overdrive, or a typical American hi-gain sound that is adjustable per channel. Want to play along with your favourite track without disturbing those around you? Just plug an MP3 player into the AUX input and hook up some headphones.

Ch-ch-changes

Using the volume and gain knobs, and the 3-band EQ (Bass, Mid, and Treble), you can tweak your sound just the way you like it. For even more adjusting, there are four sliders on the lower right of the control panel. The sliders on the left are to add more high and/or low to the preamp, while the sliders on the right control the power amp's response, which can range from fast and modern to more vintage-sounding. If you want to really complete the picture, you can add some Chorus, Reverb or Delay (or a combination of all three)! The Analog Valve is ready for the stage with an FX loop and an external speaker connection.

Merci Mr Vox.

The Blackstar Artist Series: Classic and Versatile

Monday 2 November 2015 By Richard | Bax Music

Blackstar has gone from a newcomer to an established name in a short space of time. One of their greatest assets is the Infinite Shape Feature or ISF circuit (as it's otherwise known) that they developed themselves. With the ISF circuit, Blackstar managed to greatly increase the versatility of tube amplifiers without the use of digital technology. The new Artist 15 and Artist 30 models both have an ISF circuit fitted and can produce the typical American 6L6 sound, as well as beloved British AC clean and crunch.

The VOX VTX Series - Evolution Accelerated

Wednesday 4 November 2015 By Richard | Bax Music

It's already been more than 10 years since VOX turned the amplifier world on its head with the Valvetronix series. This series of amps combined digital modelling technology with convincing tube sounds. Since then, models have slowly but steadily improved along with digital technology. Now however, the time is ripe for VOX to introduce another series that, rather than show another slow and steady improvement, offer something more like evolution accelerated. Meet the VT20X, the VT40X and the VT100X, the first three models from the new series.
