General

The portable Micro Cube may just be the most popular battery-powered guitar amplifier ever. Rightly so, as this powerful and affordable little amp houses a range of functions and sounds. The Roland Micro Cube GX is a renewed version of the Micro Cube and adds a couple of additional features to the mix, such as a chromatic tuner, a little more power, a memory button, an i-Cube Link/Aux connector (for iPhone, iPad, etc.), Spring reverb, Heavy Octave and the new amplifier model Extreme.

Micro Cube: A Convincing Guitar Amplifier

The Micro Cube GX is a real asset for anyone who wants practise before a gig, for amateur players, for beginning guitarists and for parties. In short, this Cube is ideal for any application that requires an ultra-compact yet great-sounding guitar amp. Simply connect your electric guitar to the 6.3mm mono jack input and you are good to go. The Micro Cube can imitate a wide range of amplifiers, suited for any genre from clean jazz to rock to roaring metal. With the Extreme amp model you can even create an astonishingly raw sound.

Effects and Additional Functions

The Micro Cube GX enables you to add 8 different effects to your guitar sound, such as the new 1960s-style Spring reverb or the Heavy Octave, which creates a deep 'sub' sound. The built-in tuner helps you to quickly tune your guitar and the Memory button allows you to store your favourite sound settings, facilitating switches between rhythm and lead sounds. If you connect an iPhone, an iPod Touch or an iPad to the Cube, you can play along with existing tracks or make your own recordings.

Absolutely a fantastic product! This is the "all you need" for practicing and playing when you do not need super-power. I had many other small devices for my i-phone or i-pad, but this is the best: you can play with batteries, can also use the headphone in case you do not want to disturb people around you, and all keeping the nice effects for the guitar. If I had known it was so great, I would have bought it far ahead of time!

The Blackstar Artist Series: Classic and Versatile

Monday 2 November 2015 By Richard | Bax Music

Blackstar has gone from a newcomer to an established name in a short space of time. One of their greatest assets is the Infinite Shape Feature or ISF circuit (as it's otherwise known) that they developed themselves. With the ISF circuit, Blackstar managed to greatly increase the versatility of tube amplifiers without the use of digital technology. The new Artist 15 and Artist 30 models both have an ISF circuit fitted and can produce the typical American 6L6 sound, as well as beloved British AC clean and crunch.

The VOX VTX Series - Evolution Accelerated

Wednesday 4 November 2015 By Richard | Bax Music

It's already been more than 10 years since VOX turned the amplifier world on its head with the Valvetronix series. Now however, the time is ripe for VOX to introduce another series that, rather than show another slow and steady improvement, offer something more like evolution accelerated. Meet the VT20X, the VT40X and the VT100X, the first three models from the new series.

Wednesday 20 January 2016 By Lizanne

Renowned instrument colossus Roland first introduced their Blues Cube amplifiers back in the 1990's. The idea was simply to program a transistor amp to sound like a tube amp.
