Koch Classic SE 12 Combo Guitar Amplifier
Product no: 9000-0008-3994 Bax Music Warranty: This product comes with a 3-year warranty.

General

The Classic SE12 is built for the tube-tone worshipping guitarist who doesn't like fuss. In developing this 12 Watt, Koch have stripped back to basics to deliver a pure, all-tube combo with incredible dynamic response. The 'SE' stands for single-ended since this amp make use of no more than one 5881 tube fitted in the power amp and, very considerately, an EL34 tube comes included so you can physically experiment with this combo.

Experiment with the Classic SE 12

The 5881 tube is answerable for the warm, almost piano-like bass tones and impeccable trebles this amp is capable of. Open up the volume and get a beefy yet defined, natural tube overdrive. Swap the 5881 out for the EL34 and get powerful and controlled bass, round mid-tones and velvety trebles. The harmonic sustain comes with a touch of moderate compression that is maintained as you push the gain further and, due to the auto-bias circuit, there's never any need to bias.

Voicing-Switches and Low Power

With the voicing switches included on the control panel of the SE12, you can pin-point your sound with even more precision. Activating the Mid Boost adds heaps of definition while the Bass cat tightens up the lower frequencies at higher levels of distortion. For more saturation, use the Gain Boost in combination with the Gain and a really useful little addition is Low Power mode. Enable this and you get all the tube drive and flavour even at a low volume.

Koch Quality

After a long career as a guitarist and tube amp expert, Dolf Koch founded his own company in 1988. Ever since then, the brand has developed high-quality guitar and bass amplifiers that focus on practicality, versatility and the delivery of a balanced, unique sound. Since each amp is carefully constructed and diligently tested in great detail, it's little wonder that so many professionals rely on Koch quality!

The Blackstar Artist Series: Classic and Versatile

Monday 2 November 2015 By Richard | Bax Music

Blackstar has gone from a newcomer to an established name in a short space of time. One of their greatest assets is the Infinite Shape Feature or ISF circuit (as it's otherwise known) that they developed themselves. With the ISF circuit, Blackstar managed to greatly increase the versatility of tube amplifiers without the use of digital technology. The new Artist 15 and Artist 30 models both have an ISF circuit fitted and can produce the typical American 6L6 sound, as well as beloved British AC clean and crunch.

Now however, the time is ripe for VOX to introduce another series that, rather than show another slow and steady improvement, offer something more like evolution accelerated. Meet the VT20X, the VT40X and the VT100X, the first three models from the new series.
