General

The Tubemeister 18-12CO combo from Hughes & Kettner is a powerful 18 watt tube amp. There are two channels available: clean and lead. As you would expect, with the clean channel you get clear, crisp tones. With the lead channel you can expect anything from an extra raw edge to your sound to full-on high-gain overdrive. If that's still not enough, then the Boost knob gives you even more, so that you'll always be heard. No matter what music style you play, the TM18-12CO has the sound to match. Power output can be adjusted to 1, 5, 18 or 0 (for silent recording) watts using the Power Soak knob. This means even if you're at home you can still enjoy the warm tube sound at low volumes. Add to that the built-in reverb and you have a very complete amplifier in a compact format. It even comes with a soft cover so that you can keep the amplifier looking good and free of dust and dirt.

The Rockdriver Classic 60 speaker

This version of the Tubemeister 18 is equipped with a 12-inch RockDriver Classic 60 speaker. This speaker has been specially designed to produce a very full and punchy sound. The amplifier is driven by two 12AX7 preamp tubes and two EL84 amp tubes that combine to give an authentic sound. Dynamics in your playing are very accurately picked up by this amplifier, meaning that the emotion in your music clearly shines through. The Tubemeister is quite compact, measuring 480 x 415 x 285 mm, and is therefore easy to place in your home or rehearsal space. The control panel features blue lighting for a stylish, modern look. In short, it's a real compact, versatile, powerhouse.

The Red Box

Typical of the tube amps from Hughes & Kettner is the Red Box. This is an built-in DI-output that simulates the sound of a cabinet and sends this to the mixer. That makes it easy if you want to quickly record something without having to set up a microphone in front of your speaker. Be aware that the Red Box is not a replacement for your speaker though.

Hughes & Kettner TM 18 Twelve combo guitar amplifier
Wrote the following about Hughes & Kettner TM 18 Twelve combo guitar amplifier

The Blackstar Artist Series: Classic and Versatile

Monday 2 November 2015 By Richard | Bax Music

Blackstar has gone from a newcomer to an established name in a short space of time. One of their greatest assets is the Infinite Shape Feature or ISF circuit (as it's otherwise known) that they developed themselves. With the ISF circuit, Blackstar managed to greatly increase the versatility of tube amplifiers without the use of digital technology. The new Artist 15 and Artist 30 models both have an ISF circuit fitted and can produce the typical American 6L6 sound, as well as beloved British AC clean and crunch.

Now however, the time is ripe for VOX to introduce another series that, rather than show another slow and steady improvement, offer something more like evolution accelerated. Meet the VT20X, the VT40X and the VT100X, the first three models from the new series.
