General

The '68 Custom Vibrolux Reverb is part of the amplifier series that commemorates a pivotal year for Fender. This tube guitar amplifier has a Silverface-style control panel with turquoise details and the same legendary looks as Fenders amplifiers from the late sixties. The Vibrolux Reverb has been a much-loved compact guitar amplifier since the sixties by fans of the famous Fender sound. Thanks to its compact size, this '68 Custom Vibrolux is the perfect stage companion.

Fender '68 Custom Vibrolux Reverb: A Vibrolux and A Bassman Combined

This Vibrolux tube amplifier produces a grand base sound that is drenched in the renowned Fender twang and adds to it with a custom channel that is based on the Bassman. The second channel has been adapted to be able to combine it with effect pedals for even more dynamic playing. This Vibrolux Reverb is equipped with both a vibrato and a reverb function that can be used on both channels, offering you two traditional Fender sounds.

A Unique and Refreshing Fender Amp

Size and wattage wise, the Vibrolux Reverb fills the gap between the Deluxe Reverb and the Twin Reverb. Its two 10-inch Celestion speakers make the Custom Vibrolux the white elephant among the tonal spectrum of the other Fender amplifying mastodonts. This 35-watt tube guitar amplifier offers you an exceptionally refreshing sound that is perfect for more traditional rock n roll music but the '68 Custom Vibrolux Reverb is also perfect for music types such as Shoegaze and Funk.

Fender '68 Custom Vibrolux Reverb 35W Guitar Tube Amplifier, 2x10

Wow. What an amp!

I used to have a Hot Rod Deville 2x12 many moons ago and loved the sound on that thing but it was just too loud for any kind of home playing. I sold it due to needing extra cash at the time but always wanted 'that sound' again.

I've been using a Boss Katana 100 for the past couple of years and thought I had a great sound. I treated myself to the Vibrolux and what a difference. Great, classic Fender sounds (that sound) and plenty of volume to boot but it can be tamed for bedroom playing too!

The custom channel takes OD pedals really well and I'm not missing the effects loop on the amp.

Weight-wise, I previously tried a handwired AC30, that thing weighed a ton. The Vibrolux is a lot more manageable at around 20KG with far superior clean tones.

The vibrato/reverb on the amps are great too. It has proper spring reverb(not digital) and tube driven vibrato(tremolo) which sound amazing. Everything from smooth vibrato to choppy tremolo over a great range of speeds. The verb goes from slight to full on cavernous spring reverb.

This has now become my go to amp and it's not getting sold this time round.

The Blackstar Artist Series: Classic and Versatile

Monday 2 November 2015 By Richard | Bax Music

Blackstar has gone from a newcomer to an established name in a short space of time. One of their greatest assets is the Infinite Shape Feature or ISF circuit (as it's otherwise known) that they developed themselves. With the ISF circuit, Blackstar managed to greatly increase the versatility of tube amplifiers without the use of digital technology. The new Artist 15 and Artist 30 models both have an ISF circuit fitted and can produce the typical American 6L6 sound, as well as beloved British AC clean and crunch.

Now however, the time is ripe for VOX to introduce another series that, rather than show another slow and steady improvement, offer something more like evolution accelerated. Meet the VT20X, the VT40X and the VT100X, the first three models from the new series.
