General

With the Blackstar Artist 30 you get two different tube sounds in one amp combo. Channel 1 is a master volume channel with a sound that is every tube purists dream. It delivers a pure unadulterated tube sound with without excessive tone controls and overdrive circuits. Channel 2 offers more extensive controls with separate knobs for bass, middle, treble and gain. Channel 2 also features Blackstar's unique ISF circuit with a knob that lets you adjust your sound from typical American to characteristic British AC and everything in between. All of this is fully analogue and done by adjusting the ISF control. No modelling or other digital technologies are used. On top of this, the Artist 30 is equipped with reverb, an FX loop and it comes complete with a foot switch.

Infinite Shape Feature

For real tube enthusiasts, amp modelling is just not the same thing as a real tube amp. Before Blackstar's arrival on the scene, they just had to make do with one type of amp or purchase several different ones. With Blackstar's unique ISF circuit, however, there is now a true viable alternative. The circuit lets you change the amps character from American to British and everything in between. This isn't just done by adjusting the tone control. A separate ISF knob allows you to adjust the sound between American and British. It's not just the sound that's adjusted though, but also the way the amp reacts. And because it's controlled by a knob you can decide on the ideal mix yourself. The ISF circuit basically gives you two tube amplifiers for the price of one!

30 watts of versatility

The Artist 30's little brother, the Artist 15 has an output of 15 watts. As its name suggests the Artist 30 has an output of 30 watts. Both models are fitted with the same 6L6 tubes which means that they have to work harder on the Artist 30. This means you will enjoy a characteristic American drive/crunch at higher volumes on channel 1. The amp also responds well to overdrive and boost pedals if you feel you need a little bit extra. The second channel offers authentic British sounds with a typical top-boost sound produced at higher volumes. With 30 watts of power, the Artist 30 is suitable for small to medium sized gigs or studio work. The amp also features a speaker emulated out so that you can record without having to listen to a very high volume. The Artist 30 is one very versatile and stylish looking amp.

The Blackstar Artist Series: Classic and Versatile

Monday 2 November 2015 By Richard | Bax Music

Blackstar has gone from a newcomer to an established name in a short space of time. One of their greatest assets is the Infinite Shape Feature or ISF circuit (as it's otherwise known) that they developed themselves. With the ISF circuit, Blackstar managed to greatly increase the versatility of tube amplifiers without the use of digital technology. The new Artist 15 and Artist 30 models both have an ISF circuit fitted and can produce the typical American 6L6 sound, as well as beloved British AC clean and crunch.
