General

Behringer have heard you and serve up the most powerful and complete HA Series combo amp to date: the HA-40R. Richly equipped with connectors including a headphone jack, a speaker simulation-enhanced line output and an AUX input, this flexible, potent guitar amplifier supports silent practising at home, high-quality recording via an audio interface, and even the possibility to play along with your favourite tunes by linking up an external media player such as your phone.

The Behringer HA-40R: Great Sound & Virtual Tube Circuit Tech

As implied, the HA-40R is a 40-Watt transistor amplifier, but that's not what you'd expect having heard the kind of tone it spits out. Loaded with innovative VTC (Virtual Tube Circuit) technology, as well as a specially-designed 10" Bugera speaker with vintage voicing, this Behringer amp legitimately sounds like a tube amp. The HA-40R even comes packed with a reverb effect, effortlessly whips up a wide range of sounds and, if you plug in a footswitch, you can easily switch between the clean and overdrive channel hands-free. Finally, even after having crammed in all of the above, Behringer still somehow managed to keep the price of this modern piece of guitar gear down to a nice and attainable minimum.

Behringer HA-40R 1x10", 40W Combo Guitar Amplifier with Reverb
Wrote the following about Behringer HA-40R 1x10", 40W Combo Guitar Amplifier with Reverb
Well, what can I say, this certainly packs a punch, and has a sound I like. The Daddy bear of the HA- family is not only a 40w amp at a really decent price but has additionally line in, line out, speaker out, and foot switch socket. Supplied to me by BAX with a uk mains lead. It doesn’t have the digital fx memory that some (more costly) amps have, but seriously do you really need them, no! This simply does the business and allows for two channel settings to get switched between. Personally I’d like to control the line level but I can tackle that in other ways. Great little practice amp.

The Blackstar Artist Series: Classic and Versatile

Monday 2 November 2015 By Richard | Bax Music

Blackstar has gone from a newcomer to an established name in a short space of time. One of their greatest assets is the Infinite Shape Feature or ISF circuit (as it's otherwise known) that they developed themselves. With the ISF circuit, Blackstar managed to greatly increase the versatility of tube amplifiers without the use of digital technology. The new Artist 15 and Artist 30 models both have an ISF circuit fitted and can produce the typical American 6L6 sound, as well as beloved British AC clean and crunch.

It's already been more than 10 years since VOX turned the amplifier world on its head with the Valvetronix series. Now however, the time is ripe for VOX to introduce another series that, rather than show another slow and steady improvement, offer something more like evolution accelerated. Meet the VT20X, the VT40X and the VT100X, the first three models from the new series.
