General
Perez guitars are hand-made by luthiers in Spain who use high-quality materials and follow a long tradition of guitar building. Just like most of the Perez guitar models, the 640 is available in two versions: Abeto and Cedro. The difference is in the wood used for the tops. The 640 Cedro features a cedar top that offers a much warmer sound than the Abeto's spruce top, which offers more sparkle and brightness. Other unique features of the 640 include a black ebony fretboard for tight highs and a set of high-quality gold-plated tuners for a luxurious look.
Wood types of the Perez 640 Cedro
Most guitars in this price class tend to feature laminated tops, but the top of the Perez 640 Cedro is made of solid cedar. Solid wood helps the body resonate better so you get more volume and a fuller sound. The sides and back are made of Indian rosewood, which is a lovely chocolaty brown wood with dark and light grain that delivers deep bass levels and sparkling overtones. You'll also find a black ebony fretboard, which not only looks chic but adds that extra touch of clarity to balance out the warm, dark sound.
Neat, stylish finish
The finish of the Perez 640 Cedro simply radiates artisanship. This guitar is finished just as nicely as its older brothers, and as such has a tasteful no-frills look with subtle decorations such as rosewood bindings and a colourful wooden rosette. A thin layer of high-gloss lacquer finishes off the look. The Perez 640 is also available in the Abeto version with a solid spruce top for a brighter, more sparkling sound.
