Since this Meinl Artisan Edition Soleá Series model comes fitted with a built-in pickup, you'll never need another microphone and stand to amplify your sound again! Equipped with volume and tone controls and finished with a Dark Olive Burst playing surface, simply plug the cajon into an amp using a jack cable and you're ready to perform.

The Meinl Artisan Edition Pickup Cajon Dark Olive Burst: Construction

To build this Artisan Edition Soleá model, Meinl used nine plies of Baltic birch that amount to a 12mm thickness and fitted a total of eight pre-tuned snare wires divided into two sets of four. Meinl installed the snares according to the style of master-builder, José 'Pepote' Hernández Diaz, before fitting a special bass-reflex system to enrich the low-end.

Wrote the following about Meinl PAESLDOB Artisan Edition Soleá Dark Olive Burst Cajon with Pickup

Nadat ik deze cajon een dikke week in gebruik heb, kan ik maar één ding constateren: wat een geweldig instrument! Buiten het feit dat de klank akoestisch mooi vol is en zowel een duidelijke bastoon als een (niet te scherpe) snare voortbrengt is de cajon ook nog eens bijzonder mooi om te zien. Door bij het bespelen iets achterover te hellen (zodat de voorkant gaat zweven) wordt de bas nóg prominenter. Ook heb ik de snare sound iets aangepast door de bovenste schroeven van de slagplaat ietsje losser in te stellen, vind ik persoonlijk iets fijner klinken.

Ook de afwerking van de kast en alle super gladde rondingen maken het instrument fijn om op te spelen en mooi om te zien!

Het doorversterken middels de lijnuitgang werkt prima, maar ik heb nog geen ervaring met het geluid op podia.
Tot nu toe wat mij betreft een hele goede aankoop!

Ik heb deze cajon nu een aantal weken in bezit. Ik heb er thuis op kunnen spelen en met de band in de oefenruimte. De reacties zijn zeer positief! Iedereen is het ermee eens dat deze cajon een mooi levend geluid geeft. Het geluid komt mooi door de mix en is dus goed te horen.
De cajon is goed te bespelen en reageert ook lekker op subtielere aanslagen (zoals met de vingers).

De lijnuitgang is natuurlijk super gemakkelijk om live je cajon direct op de mengtafel aan te sluiten. Ik heb dit nog niet in een live situatie kunnen proberen, maar via een mengtafel en koptelefoon lijkt het geluid wel iets matter te zijn dan het akoestische geluid. Vandaar 1 ster minder dan de volle 5. Maar misschien dat dit wel onterecht is, en klinkt het live over een PA wel gewoon helemaal goed. Dan kan er ook meer geprobeerd worden met de toonregeling op de cajon en de EQ instellingen van de mengtafel.

Ik ben er in ieder geval erg blij mee en verwacht er nog jaren veel plezier van te hebben!
