The Meinl SCAJ1LB-NT Mini Cajon is a small musical instrument that has a versatile percussion sound, just like its full-sized siblings. The second photo reveals that this product has a frontplate the size of your hand to illustrate just how small it is. Don't confuse this Meinl Mini Cajon for a mere toy, however. This SCAJ1LB-NT is a full-fledged cajon, it just has a higher pitch than a regular cajon. That, and sitting on it is a bit harder. Furthermore, with its budget-friendly price, this mini cajon can be an excellent introduction to the instrument. If it inspires you to take up playing the cajon for real, then you can always invest in a full-sized cajon later!
Features of the SCAJ1LB-NT
Weighing in at only 900 grammes, this cajon is really easy to take with you. It's ideal for going out into nature with your friends and having an impromptu jam session with a guitarist and a singer. Thanks to its high pitch it could even be an interesting addition to your percussion set-up, even if you already own a full-sized cajon. Meinl used birch wood in the construction of this cajon. The frontplate has a beautiful natural finish, while the body has an almond finish. Would you like those colours applied the other way around? Then go for the SCAJ1NT-LB, which has an almond faceplate and a natural body, but is otherwise identical.
What is a cajon?
Historically speaking, it's a wooden box. Long ago, when African slaves were transported to South America by sea, the rations of food were stored in wooden crates and the slaves used these crates to make music. The modern-day cajon has its origins in Peru, where cajons have proven to be popular (and remarkably versatile) percussive instruments. And their popularity continues to rise, even on our side of the big pond, which is in large part because of the wide array of interesting accessories that has been created for it.

Kan er lekker op je gemak mee op de bank zitten als je even zin hebt om een beat te spelen.
Voor zo'n kleine cajon zit er een behoorlijk volume in en zijn de snares goed te horen.
Afwerking is prima in orde en zit solide in elkaar.
Een aanrader! ook nog eens voor een mooie prijs.
Was trouwens ook super snel geleverd.
