General

The Meinl HCAJ1MH-M is part of Meinl's Headliner series of cajons. This means that it is a hand percussion instrument that is excellently suited for drummers and percussionists to use on stage. It's a nice alternative for drums during an unplugged gig, for instance, and you can use it in many different musical styles, especially in Latin American genres. This cajón was built with tradition firmly in mind, and that is reflected in its sound. The adjustable frontplate is made of high-grade mahogany and the resonating body is made of rubber wood with a matte finish.

From strike to sound

When you sit down on this cajon and slap the frontplate with your hands, or even your heels, you create tones that resonate throughout the body. These are then picked up by the strings of the built-in String Mute System, which create the aptly named sizzle-effect, which adds snare sound to the sound created by the frontplate. These tones then escape through the Sound Port Ring on the back of the cajon.

Comfort and adjustability

The top of this cajon is fitted with anti-slip material, which improves comfort and stability while you're playing, while the rounded edges and corners also help keep you comfortable. Furthermore, an Allen key is included with this product, allowing you to adjust the frontplate and snare wires to suit your preferences. The bottom is fitted with special rubber feet that protect the bottom of the cajón from being damaged, prevents the sound from being distorted by direct contact with the ground.
