No matter the setup, the flexible Shure Motiv MV7+ broadcast microphone grants direct access to professional recording. This model features an XLR port for direct connection to a mixer or audio interface, giving you a high-quality radio microphone with a balanced sound and response that comes close to that of the legendary Shure SM7b. Using the pre-fitted yoke mount, this microphone can also be secured to the included desktop stand to complete a neat and clean setup.

The Hybrid Microphone

What's particularly special about the Shure MV7+ is the addition of a fitted USB-C port, meaning that this microphone can just as easily be hooked up to your laptop or computer, opening up and world of options thanks to the on-board DSP processor. Using the Motiv Mix desktop app, you gain access to a range of useful tools for polishing up the timbre and optimising the dynamic response and, with this powerful app, you can even remove any noise and vocal 'popping', resulting in clean and defined sound. Een prima aankoop. Waarom? Ik heb nooit eerder een Shure gebruikt. Dus met andere shures kan ik deze microfoon niet vergelijken. Wel met microfoons van Rode en Samson en daar kan hij zich met gemak mee meten. Hoewel er ook een XLR uitgang op zit (die volgens nogal wat recensies de topkwaliteit van de microfoon het meest recht doet), gebruik ik hem vooral met de USB-C uitgang waarmee je de MV7+ kunt aansluiten op usb-ingang van een computer (Windows, maar ook Mac), maar bijvoorbeeld ook van een Ipad of een Android tablet/telefoon.
Ik zocht een microfoon waarmee ik zonder veel gedoe voice-overs kan maken (bij video bijvoorbeeld) of een podcast; d.w.z. zonder dat ik in “post” het geluid dien te editten of dat ik een mengpaneel hoef in te zetten. Deze microfoon kwijt zich voortreffelijk van die taak.
Om twee redenen. Het geluid dat er uit komt is uitstekend en focust op je stem. En dat geldt ook voor de software die er gratis bij zit: Motiv Mix genaamd. In de microfoon zit een DSP (Digital Signal Proccessor) ingebouwd. Met de software stuur je die DSP aan. Zo kun je de toon van de microfoon naar je behoefte aanpassen (wat meer Bass bijvoorbeeld), echo aanbrengen en - wat vooral handig is - achtergrondgeluiden (bijvoorbeeld van de ventilator van je computer; of bijvoorbeeld als je adem te hard doorkomt) elimineren (de denoise functie). Met motiv mix – de titel zegt het al – kun je heel gemakkelijk de microfoon mixen met geluid van andere bronnen, bijvoorbeeld muziek en dat zonder dat je een extern mengpaneel nodig hebt.
Op de achterkant van de microfoon zit een koptelefoon-aansluiting waarmee je het binnenkomende geluid (maar ook de audio op jet computer) kunt monitoren, zonder dat je last hebt van delay (vervelende geluidsvertraging).
Het kleine statief dat bij deze combo zit is robuust en degelijk. Omdat de microfoon gemakkelijk geluid van het statief en/of de tafel doorgeeft kun je de microfoon beter bevestigen aan een studio arm die niet direct op je desk is gemonteerd. Ik gebruik er de Rode PSA1 voor (bij mij aangebracht op een vensterbank) en dat werkt uitstekend.
Het is natuurlijk een prijzig apparaat. Maar wat mij betreft in alle opzichten zijn investering meer dan waard.
Bax levert snel en is een uiterst betrouwbare leverancier. Mijn advies koop niet bij een monopolist als bijvoorbeeld Amazon, maar bij een mooi bedrijf als Bax, vakkundig gespecialiseerd in alles wat met audio van doen heeft.
