General

The SE Electronics BL8 boundary microphone comes equipped with a small-diaphragm capsule, resulting in an excellent transient response and ultra-accurate registration of low frequencies. Able to handle high sound pressure levels thanks to its transformer-less circuit, this PZM microphone is a solid pick when it comes amplifying kick drums, even more so since SE Electronics have fitted a special tone-shaping switch that offers three sounds: Modern, Classic and Neutral. Here, 'modern' offers bass-rich, rock-and-metal-approved sound alongside a defined 'chick', while 'classic' gets you a much rounder, '70s-style thump. Finally, the 'neutral' setting is perfect for capturing pianos and ambient sound.
