Bluetooth speakers are usually pretty compact speakers capable of wirelessly receiving an audio signal sent from a Bluetooth capable device, like a smart phone, tablet or laptop. Sometimes Bluetooth speakers are referred to as 'BT speakers', sometimes they comes with a built-in rechargeable battery or simply run on batteries for a totally wireless music system. They come in all sizes, colours and some of them don't even have a classic speaker-shape. Some of them are fairly inexpensive yet powerful, while some of them are high-grade audiophile pleasers. Often these speakers will be able to connect with audio devices via USB or mini-jack as well as Bluetooth, some even come equipped with an almost invisibly discreet integrated microphone, so that phone calls can be answered hands-free, and some come with radio tuners or other unexpected features.
Most Bluetooth speakers will have been designed for use in small rooms, like your kitchen, bedroom, living room or very small venue. These speakers can get pretty small so it can be placed anywhere without being imposing and can be taken anywhere as the ultimate portable little party. But, sometimes, you just have to have more bass or volume; something powerful, which, while it can still pair with your phone via Bluetooth, comes with a wider selection of other inputs like a microphone socket, or even comes with a microphone. If this already sounds more like it, then a larger, portable battery-powered speaker might do the trick. If you want something even bigger and you're not really fussed about it being battery-powered or portable, then a proper active full-range speaker with Bluetooth is almost definitely going to be what you want.
