General
The Ultra Hex Par 3 by American DJ is a compact LED fixture with a proper light output. Its 40-degree beam angle allows for beautiful washes. The Ultra Hex's unique design allows you to use it for uplighting without bending your cables in an awkward position. Additionally, it features a double bracket so that you can use the Ultra Hex Par 3 as a free-standing fixture or fly it from a truss or stand.

The unique part about this fixture is that all three light sources are able to produce six different colours: red, green, blue, amber, white and UV. As these colours share the same housing, the Ultra Hex Par 3 ensures an exceptionally good colour blending. Combine this with a 40-degree beam angle and you have the perfect fixture for uplighting walls, curtains, etc. The design of the fixture allows you to point it straight up, ideal for lighting a truss. The double brackets enable even more applications.
Controls
Flicker-free lighting is a must these days, as it assures that video recordings aren't detrimented by annoyingly flickering lights. The Ultra Hex Par 3 can be controlled via DMX, but it can also run on a stand-alone or music-controlled mode. Naturally, this fixture also has a fixed mode to show just a single colour continuously. It has no fewer than 63 pre-programmed colour macros and even a strobe light effect.

ziet er mooi afgewerkt uit en vooralsnog
geen klagen, stuur ze aan met Ayra DMX
lichtsturing en dat werkt super.
Ik was nooit te vinden voor de LED spots omdat de kleuren hiervan beperkt waren tot vooral 'fluo' kleuren en er geen warme of zachte tinten mee te maken zijn.
Dankzij de amber en witte leds die hier naast de RGB gebruikt worden gaat dat hiermee juist perfect.
Je kunt een aangenaam amber of warm witte kleur maken.
Ik gebruik nu 12 van deze spots samen met een Ayra OSO240B dmx lichtsturing. Die werken perfect samen. De Ayra moet hiervoor zelfs niet geprogrammeerd worden. Vanuit de doos aansluiten, fixture 1 kiezen en de blackout uitschakelen en je kunt met de schuiven de 6 individuele LEDs traploos dimmen tot elke gewenste kleur. Super gewoon!
Opbouw van de spots is stevig, beugels zijn goed te verstellen en vast te zetten, relatief laag gewicht en heel compact om mee te nemen. Ook de manuele instelling van alle DMX parameters op de spot gaan eenvoudig en snel.
De lichtopbrengst is ook prima en te vergelijken met een PAR58 van 300 Watt.
Ook worden de kleuren goed gemengd en heb je geen schaduwen in de RGB kleuren zoals bij sommige andere spots. Wit is gewoon wit en geen rood+groen+blauw.
Als er één minpuntje is is dat misschien de lichtopbrengst, maar gezien de prijs en het stroomverbruik (25W) kun je moeilijk meer verwachten. Een betere spot kost denk ik zeker 3x zoveel.
Stevig omdat ze helemaal van metaal zijn. Kleiner is een voordeel, niet alleen in vervoer, maar ook in gebruik, zeker als je ze doorlust heb je met grotere parren vaak ruimte te kort en moeten je connectoren/snoeren in bijna haakse bochten aangesloten zijn. Nu heb je meer ruimte om snoeren en connectoren rustig in een bocht te leiden.
UV werkt uitstekend als blacklight, al heeft de blacklight dan wel wat last van restlicht, waardoor het niet helemaal donker blijft.
Maar gezien de stevigheid en veelzijdigheid toch 5 sterren.
