General

The Electro Harmonix Crying Bass is the wah pedal bass players have subconsciously been waiting for. Wah pedals haven't changed much since the 1960s - that is, until EHX came up with the idea of stripping the wah of all its moving parts. The first, well-received release of the resulting Next Step series was the Crying Tone guitar effect. Also part of the Next Step series, this rugged Crying Bass has been specifically designed for bass guitar and features a fuzz circuit, which adds some extra harmonics to the wah effect.

The flexible Crying Bass

The silently switching Crying Bass responds incredibly well: just rock the pedal gently back and forth to control the intensity of the wah effect. The pedal owes its smooth control to its complete lack of moving parts - a characteristic that also ensures a long life. A dial on the side enables you to adjust the balance between fuzz and dry signal, while a second dial allows you to determine the desired amount of LPF, a 194Hz low-pass filter that has been included to add more bottom to the effect. If you like, the Crying Bass can be incorporated into your pedalboard using the optional Pedalboard Cradle.
