The MXR M87 is an unbelievable extensive little bass guitar compressor - and is just as effective when you stick a guitar through it. Via a pack of five control pots, you're handed deep-diving control over every aspect. Subtly push down volume peaks to balance out your playing dynamics or compress your whole sound and square it out completely. Meanwhile, smart Constant Headroom Technology ensures you've got masses of headroom to play with as well as clear and transparent sound, and since this is the Blackout Series edition, it comes dipped in matte black and fitted with a fierce yellow LED indicator.

The Multidimensional MXR M87B Bass Compressor

The M87 Bass Compressor is dialled in via a standard set of controls: Ratio (the compression size), Attack (the point where the compression kicks in) and Release (the point where the compression falls away). The bright LED meter indicates the compression level while the volume can be balanced via the Output pot. Switch this True Hardware Bypass pedal off and lose none of the higher frequencies or volume of your original dry tone. This stompbox can be powered using a standard 9V power supply or battery.

I play black metal, do I need a compressor? Oh yea you do. Tremelo picking on bass sounds so more sustainable with good bass compressor. MXR M87 is the way to go. If you’re lucky get a MXR M87B Blackout Series!

These are a bass compression pedal (BC-1X), a reissue of the VB-2 vibrato (VB-2W Waza Craft) and a stompbox-sized vocoder (VO-1).
