Darkglass present the Hyper Luminal: a hybrid-style compressor housed in a solid and stylish stompbox and loaded with a significant number of widely used compression sounds with a fully analogue signal path. By combining an analogue VCA (voltage controller amplifier) with digital side-chaining, Darkglass have managed to reach studio-grade compression here, which can be fully tweaked via USB using the Darkglass Suite software available online to spice up the sound of your bass.

The Hyper Luminal: Adjustable Effect Intensity and 3 Popular Versions

With the Compression control, you can set the perfect amount of compression and gain compensation to dial in your sound, while the Ratio Touch Sensor can be used to decide just how intense the compression should be before you flip through the selectable modes: Bus mode gives you that legendary Solid State Logic sound; Fet mode includes the sound of the classic 1176 compressor and Darkglass' own popular Super Symmetry 115 GeV can be accessed in Sym mode. Lastly, literally next to the output volume control, you'll also find a Blend pot so that in addition to a compressor, you can use the Hyper Luminal as a transparent-sounding boost pedal.

NAMM 2016: Boss Launches 3 New Stompbox Effects: BC-1X, VB-2W and VO-1

Boss, a pioneer in effects pedals, is launching three new effects pedals with the BC-1X, VB-2W and VO-1. These are a bass compression pedal (BC-1X), a reissue of the VB-2 vibrato (VB-2W Waza Craft) and a stompbox-sized vocoder (VO-1). Boss decided to release a reissue of the popular VB-2 vibrato pedal, and Boss Japan gave it their blessing in the form of the Waza Craft label.
