General
This HDR-MV1 music video recorder by Sony is one of the quickest and easiest ways to record an entire live performance in high-quality audio and video. It captures live performances in Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) and records high-quality audio using uncompressed linear PCM. You can even opt to record sound in ACC format.
The Sony HDR-MV1
With this handheld audio and video recorder you can make more than just standard recordings. Sony has equipped the HDR-MV1 with a built-in, high-sensitivity Exmor R-CMOS sensor and, as such, it is able to record highly detailed video images, even under badly lit circumstances, for instance during twilight or in a night club, studio or theatre. The HDR-MV1 is capable of recording a live performance in its entirety - thanks to the use of a 120-degree Carl Zeiss Tessar wide-angle lens, you can capture the entire hall. The microphones located beneath the lens have a practical XY stereo configuration, which means they can be turned and tilted 120 degrees, allowing for surround-sound audio recordings.
Technological feats
The Sony HDR-MV1 is equipped with a number of interesting technological features. The recorder can be remotely controlled by means of a smartphone or tablet (with an Android operating system) via an NFC connection. The audio and video recorder is fitted with a 2.7-inch display that allows you to monitor the recording levels. When the HDR-MV1 is not active, the display automatically switches off, saving battery power. The battery can be charged using an optional power adapter, which means you can record while the recorder is charging. If you connect the recorder to your computer via a USB cable, the battery is automatically charged as well.
Recording with the Sony Pro HDR-MV1
In order to make the best possible audio recordings, make sure to select the sound level that matches your recording. A number of modes has already been pre-programmed. You can allow the HDR-MV1 to select the best mode automatically, but it is also possible to manually adjust the recording level in 31 steps, creating the optimal settings for a specific situation. A number of scenes can be selected for your video recordings using the Scene Select function, and a line input allows you to record external sources. Would you like to record the sound of an act, but not the visuals? With the Sony HDR-MV1 you can choose to capture only the audio signal - great for jam sessions and concerts! A built-in speaker allows for quick and easy playback without the use of headphones. Unwanted noise is reduced by means of a low-cut filter, and a Lip Sync function enables you to synchronise video and audio. The HDR-MV1 audio and video recorder is compatible with various data storage devices: you can use a Memory Stick Micro (MARK2) as well as a Micro SD, Micro SDHC or Micro SDXC memory card.
