General

If you need to send multiple audio channels separately and in a simple, reliable way, the MADI solutions from RME will completely streamline your setup. As many as 128 audio channels can run over one single MADI cable and the MADI Router is a digital patchbay with four MADI I / Os, each with three different connections (optical, coaxial and MADI twisted pair). Routing between the various inputs and outputs is completely customisable via the simple user interface and is displayed on a compact and well-arranged TFT screen. You can even combine audio channels from different MADI inputs and vice versa.

RME MADI Router: MADI Twisted Pair

In addition to the conventional optical and coaxial connection, each MADI input and output has a MADI Twisted Pair (TP) connection. This connection sends the audio signals through a simple twisted pair Ethernet cable and since the price of an Ethernet cable is a fraction of that of a standard MADI cable, it simply makes sense. Depending on the quality of the cable, a distance of up to 100 meters can be bridged.

Expansion

Extensions can also be purchased for the MADI Router. A sound card can be added with 64 input and 64 output signals for recording. Two converters have also been released for the MADI Router, enabling the conversion of signals to the more common AES / EBU or ADAT formats. The power supply of these expansion options runs via the Twisted Pair Ethernet cable.
