General

Deploy the two-channel SPL De-Esser MKII to soften harsh s-sounds and clean up the vocal track, leaving a far more natural-feeling result than traditional de-essers. Compared to most off-the-shelf units, this model does more than just apply a compressor with a side-chain that simply monitors the high frequencies. Instead, the SPL De-Esser detects and isolates harsher sounds before adding them back to the signal with an inverted polarity, so it simply sounds as if they've been turned down, leaving the rest of the track untouched. Thanks to the Female switch, the range can be flipped between two frequency ranges while the Auto function sets the threshold and signal fluctuation level automatically - which really gets useful when working with a vocalist that can't stay still.
